1. Don't switch tenses on me. Did it happen or is it happening? I don't know!
2. Fragments. Make my. Brain disoriented. See what I did there?
3. Authors who don't reply to their comments! Grrr.

I'm also reading one of the worst stories ever published. It's a cross between Twilight and ... well, I guess it's just comparable to Twilight. It would be what Twilight is if Stephanie what's her name didn't have a good editor. I'll put it that way.

Oh my god. I can't sleep. I think I'm going to try though. Peace out, 4 am.

I think my biggest pet peeve is #3. I do think the primary reason people take the time to comment and not move on to the next story is to share feedback and "discuss" the story with the author.

Agreed! Everything is usually complimentary so I don't really know why it's difficult to respond to that with a simple "thank you". I just see it as ignoring or not acknowledging the people who are reading your story in the first place.

Haha, I wish I could! It follows me everywhere. *will read* Ooh, Joan icon.

I won't leave feedback for authors if I know they don't respond to their reviews.

I've been reading SO MUCH bad Twilight fic lately. Help.

That's a good way to do it.

I can do nothing for you. I'm reading about a werewolf, a woman who lives in Kansas and is an oil tycoon, and she also hates "lairs". ... or liars.

Fic peeve of the week: one of the story's protagonists being proficient in the "Marshall Arts."

LOL! Don't you know it's a new method of arts? I don't know how these people are not looking this stuff up first.

Is that like The Marshall Plan?

My favorite is when Justin had a "pre-Madonna moment"!

Major contradictions. It's just annoying to read a story the author doesn't care enough about to remember what chapter one was about by chapter three.

Single, straithforward scenes posted as full chapters. Or even worse, single, straithforward, not even all that long scenes being divided into three or more chapters. What's up with that?

Date: 2010-01-11 09:21 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] amelialourdes.livejournal.com
Exactly. They're the author. I don't know how they're not keeping track of what's going on in their own story. At least look back and see what happened!

Ooh, yeah. I don't know about that one. One scene does not one chapter make.

Hahaha! I hate all of those. I don't read a ton of badfic, but writing like that in general terrifies me. I'm reading the House of Night series, and there are some portions that sound like a 15 year old wrote them.

One of my biggest pet peeves is bad dialogue. That's my favorite part of any story, and if the dialogue is awkward or unbelievable, then I have a hard time getting through the rest of it.

Yes! Oh my gosh. I'm reading this story that my friend and her co-workers used to make fun of. It's about a woman who lives in Kansas and is an oil tycoon. Because there are so many oil refineries in Kansas, yes? Many men fall all over themselves when they see her but she's a virgin and she's never been with a man. She meets a werewolf and then she's turned into a werewolf because of the one time they had sex. The best part about all of this are the typos, punctuation placements that make no sense. It's hysterical!

She literally put it on the market everywhere. I don't know how. I'm just gonna have to put up a review when I'm through with it.

The tense switching is SO ANNOYING. Not as bad as POV switch, but still bad.

Yes! When it happens in mid-sentence, that's when the confusion really begins.

Bwa! I haven't even read Twilight and I still totally get that, heh.

Authors who don't reply to their comments! Grrr.

OMG. You know how much that annoys me. *eye tick*

I think the horribleness of Twilight needs no explanation. *nod* This one has werewolves in it and just makes up werewolf lore and there's a woman in Kansas who has an oil refinery. Because there are so many oil wells in Kansas, right?

See? Braintwins. I understand the twitch.

YOU'RE & YOUR/ THEIR & THEY`RE!!

Also, the authors not responding thing. It makes me feel really bitchy, for some reason.
Even worst: author responding to everyone because she's bff with them, but not you! Drives me crazy!!

Haha twilight=EPIC FAIL!
