Well, you promote it when people can actually see it so it's normal..

Must say I don't agree with the comments here. I'll say it again and people can make fun of me or whatever: I do love that movie and I hate when somebody says is not good or is not a quality movie or whatever else they say.. I wonder what they are comparing it to.. they should judge it as a comedy and not as the masterpice of the universe. (don't take this as if I'm upset.. not that, it' s just my opinion)

I'll raise my hand and say I enjoyed it. It was no worse
in script or execution (except maybe for Gale's hair!)
than "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" or any of the rom-coms
with Jennifer Aniston or J-Lo. Gale is charming and I
can even stomach Fay more than poor Jennifer Elster --
all that family angsin "PoT" gave ME a headache!

I watched it with Miss Alyssa and she loved it. And
she's very particular about her movies!

Exactly.. I've seen so many terrible romantic comedies in the last two decades.. I think it's a genre that usually I don't remember because it's not done the way I like or with a script and actors that make it work so when I see one that I really enjoy I ctually remember it later and this movie is an example of that.. I'm glad to know I'm not alone in this xDD ;)

(I also agree about his hair but at least it doesn't bother me that much like it does in some scenes on QAF-S5)

I loved the movie too and could care less if other people don't like it or have a need to bash.
Gale is getting publicity and that may lead to other acting parts. That's good for him after he lost time and maybe acting opportunities due to his accident. FFG is one of the reasons that he's out in the public eye.

That's what I think.. it's great to see him out there talking about it and on TV.. I love that he thinks this movie deserves as much publicity as it can get since it's really the actors the only ones who can do something about that.. it just shows that this movie means something to him and he thinks it has a quality that deserves to be recognized and seen by a public. It's goos to know you think like me ;)

Yes. I definitely think the movie means something to him and it showed, especially when he talked about the different themes in the movie such as social injustices (sweat shops.) The way some people have talked online recently, you'd think 'poor Gale' was being used. No way. He seemed interested in the movie, on very good terms with Fay and Clem and others associated with it, and he's been getting around to social events, apparently enjoying himself. Let's hope all this leads to a TV series or multiple guest roles and significant parts in movies.

Well, you promote it when people can actually see it so it's normal..

That movie was supposed to be out way sooner. There was promotion (ads, trailer recs on e.g. Apple Trailers) for FFG a couple of years back, after they finished shooting. One would expect the movie out soon after that, right? But what happened instead, was that all that was heard of it for the next couple of years were one or two screenings at minor festivals and nothing else. If I had been one of those waiting impatiently for the movie, I'd have felt messed around with by all the ambiguity and continuous delay. I don't know the specifics of what all happened and what delayed them for such a ridiculously long time, but you do not make and market a movie like that.

If it weren't for Gale's loyal fanbase, Fay would have a couple of very pissed producers on her tail. Therefore, it was a clever move to tie Gale that heavily in into the (anti-climactic) promo now.

As for liking/not liking the movie, that's clearly a question of individual taste, but I doubt that anyone going to see FFG will have art house expectations of it. ;) So, I guess negative critique is just as valid as positive -- after all, both can be influenced by bias or particular motives.

What's unusual about it is that this is a movie that was finished four years ago. It was made more than five years ago and to promote it four years later, is a little excessive. The director of the movie avoided Gale's fans the first time she tried to promote it because she thought that it would run on its own steam. When she realized that it wouldn't, that's when she started promoting it to Gale Harold fans. I feel so used! lol. It's not the way to get on my good side. That's for sure.

No, no, I feel you! I don't really think that anyone's judging it as anything but what it is. Most people seem to think that it's just a bad comedy.
