Good morning, Sunday people! Have a meme.
1. Reply to this post with the word PIRATES and I will pick six of your icons.
2. Make a post (including this info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never ending cycle of icon glee.
Here are the ones that plasticine_star picked for me!
This was one of url_girl's icons in a series of Randy Harrison icons. I just think that Randy is one of the Kings of Awesome and this icon emphasizes that. He was never afraid to say what he wanted to say about Queer as Folk as it was airing, he chooses ambitious theater roles, and he acts for himself because it's what he feels passionate about. Therefore? King of Awesome.
Ah, Spring Awakening. It was so refreshing to see this little original rock musical take over Broadway. It just transports me back to high school ... without the sex, abortion, and suicide! but the feelings were all the same. There was innocence and discovery and tough feelings to deal with. Okay, this was nothing like high school. But, it would've made for a more interesting four years. I love it. And, of course, this is one of my favorite songs and scenes in the play.
Another creation by the talented url_girl! Thinking back, I have forgotten how we came up with this, lol. I think we were talking about fangirls ... okay, just went looking for it and I couldn't find the epic convo. But, it had something to do with fangirls and how they would stalk and be all meerkat-like about it, haha.
This pretty much defined the several years I dedicated my life to Lost. I read all the analysis, recaps, people's comments and I was still confused by things pretty often! Lost was never about the answers otherwise I would've gone insane. I wanted to know things but I wanted to let the show take me wherever it wanted to go. Doesn't mean I didn't hate some episodes because I did. This icon was just hysterical for the last couple of seasons.
Oh, Reid Oliver. I love you so much. Not only are you outrageously hot but you're snarky, don't know how to be nice to people (except Luke, Katie, Bob, and Jacob), and ... did I mention hot? This was a scene where Luke was trying to teach Dr. Oliver how to speak to the nurses at the hospital. He sarcastically said, "Yep. It's a nice freakin' day." This was followed by the loin quivering line, "What if I only wanna play nice with you?" *TURNS INTO A PUDDLE OF GOO* This icon was made by the brilliant comeoctober who is awesome and makes equally awesome icons!
Cameron! From Modern Family. It's pretty much the best comedy show out there right now. Cameron says that he's not that dramatic and then he grabs a trash can and runs toward the car when they accidentally lock Lily in the car. So, so great! So much can be said about how hilarious this is in this one little icon. Perfection.
I have 38 icons that are all Lure related. LJ needs to gift a few more icon spaces like yesterday because I do not have room for all the ones that I want. I've deleted all I can part with and it's not enough!
They're on tomorrow so this is all that matters. ... of course that's going to result in more brilliant icons and of course I'm going to complain again about not having room for all of them. It's a deadly cycle. Ah, obsession. I've missed you.
You know, doing this whole giant screencap project aka qafcaps.com, I've discovered things that I've never seen in the series before. Okay, I've only never seen some things in Season Five since I didn't really pay attention to it but check these out! The end of 503 was pretty darn good. Someone needs to make me an icon or a wallpaper (1440x900) or ... yes, icons are very much acceptable. Look at these! Come on. They're good.
I need a new default icon. I've had this same one since this movie came out. I think that was five years ago already. It's time for a change. I like this icon because if you're not in this fandom then you don't really know what it is. If you are in fandom, then of course you know what it is. I am open to changing it to the following:
• Queer as Folk
• Gale Harold
• Randy Harrison
• Six Feet Under
• Stock: Theater, Hollywood, Films, etc.
So, icon suggestions! Post them in comments. Link or image link, please. Will sell what's left of my soul for help. Will also die from happiness if any of the following people made me a new one: ohfreckle, sodoesrachael, rinmonsterer, sakesushimaki ... just FYI. :)
I'd seen a couple of these and I had no idea where they came from. Now, I do! Thanks to kinwad for posting them! Also thanks to gale_allthetime for pointing out that the original source is here.
Comment & Credit, thanks!
Gale's new hair told me to make icons and then I did. It's the dude from The Mummy movies and Laura from Brick! I'm having an aesthetic problem with these so do what you want with them! I took the photos from suzvoy's journal entry.
Remember when everyone was so goddamn pissed off because that show got canceled and then years later it became an absolute cult classic and people say, "Wow. Biggest fucking mistake that ABC ever made." Wrong. I think that we're entering into a world where we're all going to say that about our short one season and short two season shows that are going to be prevalent in the future.
I say boycott bullshit "reality" television which guess what? It isn't reality. They tell people what to do on those shows. Those people are just puppets on strings. I work in television. I know because I see it and I hear it on a daily, daily basis.
Sorry, I didn't mean for this to be a television rant but I am still set off about this. Why does every single Bryan Fuller show have to get canceled? Heroes, you're next.
Going to finish that icon meme that I haven't completed yet. You can find the first one here.
5. Okay. I love Shelter. I love it. I have watched at least ten million gay films and there are pretty much three categories of gay cinema:
1) Artsy, pretty much emerging from the New Queer Cinema area.
2) Stereotypical gay comedy/"romance"/drama/etc.
3) Suffering victim who has to die at the end of the movie no matter what.
Don't get me wrong, I love a few gay films from all of those categories but Shelter breaks the mold on just about every single term. It's a completely feel good movie without touching into cheesy territory. The music is so appropriate and fitting for every single scene, the actors pull off their characters so well (even though I do have minor beef with Zach in some of his lines), and you know what? No one suffers completely, no one dies, and there's a happy fucking ending. How many gay movies can pull THAT off? Not a lot. This movie makes me so incredibly happy that you cannot believe.
So, I have this icon that pretty much represents the entire Zach/Shaun dynamic. Not only are they lovers but they're really close friends. I love that they build up the conversation in the film, treating one another like friends but their shift into a romance is completely, completely believable. So, that's why I have this Shelter icon. It pretty much says it all right there.
6. I love Randypants. I just do. I don't even think that I could explain it if I tried. I just think that he's one of the most poised, professional actors and I really admire someone who's really pursued what they want and are really unrelenting when it comes to getting what they want. That takes fucking balls and guts and it takes passion. I'm just drawn to that in general.
Icon's obviously from Mrs. Warren's Profession and I labeled it 'content' because doesn't he look happy there?
Um, cloverdilly is holding a gun to my head to do a voice/video meme thing and I really want to do it. I kid Ann. I kid cause I love. <3 So, other than that I am in for an awesome weekend. I'm just going to sit at home all weekend and relax. Best type of weekend ever. Well, except for the doctor's office (my eyes) and my aunt's bday brunch on Sunday.
