Television.
There's been some interesting television on lately. I won't say great but I'll say interesting. I have yet to get caught up on House but I'll probably try to do that this weekend.
In the meantime, I have the season finale of Army Wives and the latest episode of Dirty Sexy Money.
Army Wives
I understand that it's difficult to top last season's finale of the show. You blew up some people at a bar and it was emotional and traumatic for everyone involved. It was powerful, literally. It's difficult to top that.
But I think that you could've thought of more imaginative ways to think of a season finale than yet another one of Claudia Joy's daughters getting in trouble and running away with what's his name from American Dreams. Claudia Joy is the only one with teenage daughters (except for Jeremy who we've conveniently written off) so that is where you are going to pick your problems. Right? Wrong.
The writers of Army Wives seem to think that I've become emotionally invested to secondary characters. They couldn't be more wrong. I really could care less about ... Amanda's sister. See? I don't even remember her name. The show is called Army WIVES not Army Wives and Their Children That Get Into Trouble In Every Season. I don't call it that. I am not interested in what's her name. I am only interested in Claudia Joy, Roland (army husband), Roxy, Denise (though that's another bucket of problems), Pamela and Joan. That's all.
Why don't you try building a season finale around them instead of their children? I would've liked to see that. Instead, you put Claudia Joy into another situation where she could potentially lose her mind. You killed her first born child. Isn't that enough?
Roxy and Trevor. I like the baby storyline but I know that you're not going to do another one since you just got through Joan's. I like the idea of it though. Oh, and Roxy getting into a fight with Uncle Coop from Charmed? Awesome.
Uncle Coop + Chris (Trevor from Army Wives) = FAMILY REUNION TIME!
That's pretty much the only thing I cared about in this episode. Nothing else. Lackluster season finale and yet another show that I've completely lost faith in. Way to go, Wives.
Dirty Sexy Money
What ... happened to this show, exactly? Remember when Karen was really strong willed, intelligent, could hold her own, married men just because she could and didn't really seem to take any interest in them? I'm hard pressed to believe that she would coyly snuggling into Simon and hope for his protection and guidance. I'm just not believing that.
And the whole Jeremy + Mom against Nola and Nola + Simon against everyone? Oh god. It's getting into that "I DON'T CARE" territory. Jeremy's always a little sweet on the edge of his ignorance so, I don't really have a problem with Jeremy and the fact that he was used by his mother. I have a problem with Letitia using her son in the first place like that. She has NEVER come off as the type of person who would do that. Tripp? Absolutely. Letitia? No. Now, I hate her. I also thought her soothing words to Jeremy were a little um, Oedipal.
Um, Brian will always continue to be amazing as well as Brian Jr. Let's focus the entire show around them next time. Although, I do NOT like that relationship with Andrea. "Stay and let me take care of you" ?? HELLO. HE WAS TRYING TO SAVE HIS MARRIAGE LAST I HEARD. YET ANOTHER INTERRACIAL RELATIONSHIP KILLED BEFORE ITS PRIME.
Hai, ABC. Please fuck off. I know that you're slowly trying to get rid of the gays, asians, other minorities to turn your channel into a heterosexual white world but it isn't going to happen. That isn't the world that I live in.
I digress.
Jeremy and Lisa? Please. Jeremy is way too cool for her. Lisa's gotta go and I really hope that she does with this whole break up thing.
Okay, speaking of which, I THOUGHT THAT THIS SHOW WAS GOING TO SHOW HOW DUTCH GEORGE DIED AND WHO DID IT?? WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING??
Now it's probably going to get cancelled before we know the answers to those questions. I had a lot of faith in it ever since rainrockstar took me to that screening. Unfortunately, I don't think that we'll be seeing the answer to that. I mean, it's not Lost. There's no climax toward the ending. Just give the audience some credit.
Oh and Desperate Housewives? Keep the Jackson coming, thanks.
