Who is the person in fandom who called the parking lot where Justin got hit "the parking lot of violent homophobia"? I laughed my ass off about five seconds ago just thinking about it. This was around 2004 and it may have been a TWoP recap but now I'm not too sure.

I thought about it because I'm reading my memories and it was a conversation that I had with my bestie. :)

She had the writing nailed didn't she? SO. BAD. I'm disappointed, though not surprised, the recaps ended with the 2nd season.

Though, damn, I'd LOVE to see her recap the wedding-that-wasn't.

Totally disappointed that she stopped! I think there was one site that went on to season three and then stopped so that can't be TWoP. But now I'm at least 99% sure that the phrase I was thinking of is from TWoP. It's just too good.

Camper liked QAF and was fair in her recaps and critique, therefore the powers that be at TwoP replaced her with someone who did not like the show and would therefore write more scathing commentary.

holy shit. I just read the recap. I don't know who Camper is but her recap is dead-on and her writing is just pretty darn snappy. Is (was) she on LJ? Was funny to read Michael being called "Mike" though.

TWoP preceeded LJ as the site of the WORST of QAF wanktasm. Finally, the mods banned all QAF posts and threads altogether, because the flaming got so heated. That was before my time, too. But from what I understand, that was the site of some of the worst of the B/J v. B/M raging battles.

I am not in the least disappointed that I missed all that wankage. I didn't see any comments on the recap, but I didn't really look.

I don't think I will ever understand anyone shipping B/M (was that the poland/austria thing? I never remember.). I get that the first ep I saw was right at the end of the fourth season on OnDemand, but I *did* go back and start at the beginning. Nowhere that I can see is there any real basis for assuming those two will truly hook up. It's so obvious that Mikey's got a massive puppy crush and Brian either tolerates or exploits it depending on his mood, but it never seems real. Unlike his fixation with Justin, which he also tolerates and exploits depending on his mood, but you can tell there's more there. That may be more solely due to acting rather than text, but it's there. B/M will forever remain a mystery to me. Are they still around? Or have they faded away? I don't know that I've ever heard any talk of B/M except to say there were shipper wars back when.

TwoP was the only QAF message board site when the show started; its major function was to provide a space for people to bash bad tv. However, since it was the ONLY place in the beginning, "real" fans joined and tried to have discussions praising the show and actors. Perhaps naturally we fans in turn were bashed by many TwoP members - AND the board admins permitted the nastiest of bashing while remonstrating with fans who fought back. And you cannot imagine the heights (depths) to which B/J versus B/M fights rose (sank).

When TwoP closed down the QAF threads, some of us more vocal fans - myself,* noxin, justvisiting and a couple others started Refugee ( http://qafrefugeeforum.yuku.com/bqafrefugeeforum ) as a place for fan discussion of the show. Other fan sites started up also, including (yes, believe-it-or-not) B/M sites. This was all before LJ existed, of course.

Added: By the way, Camper did the recaps the first two years, and she basically liked the show and was fair about the good-bad-ugly. Therefore she was replaced by the admins with someone who would be "more appropriately" critical of QAF.
