amelialourdes: (QAF NOSTALGIA ; NOSTALGIA DANCE)

Thanks to anyone who's still keeping up with this! And anyone on my flist who is just tolerating it, ha. I had an excuse for missing these. I had unbearable back pain and only wanted to read comfort fic and didn't want to do much thinking or moving under the influence of pain pills. So, there's my excuse. It lasted a good almost couple of weeks. Now that it's over it's back to the recaps!

I'm thinkin' that kwaf is no more so it'll be my own screencaps from this point on. As always the wonderful and patient [livejournal.com profile] sakesushimaki has her recaps in her journal! She's all on time and stuff. It's amazing.

This is episode 107 but I call it "Everyone Should Go To the Randy Harrison School of Facial Expressions" because I’m pretty sure that he uses all of them in this one episode.

Observe this first scene with Justin and Daphne. I’ve included a panel of pictures and two with her because I think everyone needs more Daphne in their lives. I have this fixation with the opening scene for several reasons.

a) Makayla Smith is especially Canadian in this scene. She talks a little fast when she says "out of her mouth" and the way that she pronounces “mouth” is like moo-th, which is totally Canadian. By the way, I love Canadian accents and pretended to have one for a few years so this is one that I picked up on.

b) Justin’s complete dismissal of Daphne and all of her piercing warnings are totally ignored which is awesome. This piercing is an act of defiance and teenage rebellion which is an ongoing theme in this episode.

c) Now begins the Randy Harrison School of Expressions. In the beginning with Daphne there’s his dismissive expression. When he’s sitting in the chair and she’s acting which nipple, he has this scared and anxious expression. Finally, total pain, surprise, shock, and laughter from the adrenaline that he feels.

But, other people are involved in this episode. Right? Okay, right. Michael and David go to the diner and David meets Debbie where she finds out he’s a doctor! So, he’s got an invite to dinner.

Jennifer and Craig have their first conversation about Justin being gay. It is very obvious how these two are handling the news. Jennifer shows concern for Justin seeing Brian because he’s older. Craig’s just pissed because he’s gay. She tells him that they knew he was gay and he says no, you suspected (he’s gay)! Trouble’s a-brewin’.

Ted and Emmett mock Michael because he’s got a boyfriend and Justin comes along wanting to entice Brian with the nipple ring he just got and also wants to be part of the group conversation when the attention turns to Studs and Suds. Brian pretends to be aloof and totally indifferent to that nipple ring. We all know that he’s full of shit. When hasn’t he wanted Justin?

This time is no exception! A whole panel of pictures dedicated to some loft lovin’. We all know that the director’s cut is the winner when it comes to this scene but they left in some good stuff here too. I’m not going to elaborate ......... until you reach the bottom of this recap and then we’re going to have a frame by frame! But, the point of this scene is crossed with Craig really realizing that Justin is gay.

How does this father not know that his son is gay by the way? Let’s observe Justin’s room, shall we? He has a Ginuwine poster on his wall. Other than the fact that at this point, Ginuwine is four/five years over, I doubt that he has that poster because he’s looking at the aesthetic value. I think Justin’s jerking off to Ginuwine’s six pack. Then the camera pans to several ads with men baring their chests. Mostly … men. All men. (Sidenote: There’s a Danko Jones poster on the wall! Someone on set must be a fan.) Craig finds “the picture” and is resigned to seeing that his son is gay. Included that last shot of their fingers because I there is a lot of finger love in that scene.

We follow that scene with Brian, acting ridiculously happy and gee I wonder why, entering Michael and Emmett’s apartment to annoy them. Well and he wants to grab Michael so that he can play. Then he finds out that his playmate is going to his mom’s house for dinner and he acts like a brat. There is no other way to describe this scene other than in adolescent terms. Also, who doesn’t like watching Gale devour the éclair? I know. It was random. I just thought I’d throw it in there. So, Brian continues his strange manipulation over Michael (not because he’s jealous but he wants Michael’s attention for himself) and again just before Michael goes out with David, Brian tells him more words that only confuse Michael and he kisses him. David comes in with flowers and takes Michael away, leaving Emmett and Brian together.

This next scene have all of Randy’s expressions. The first example I used is disgusted!Justin and followed by “I shocked my dad” Justin. This scene is about Justin’s parents trying to explain to him their concern and he just keeps pushing them. I think that this is a combination of Justin’s adolescence and teenage rebellion and a genuine desire to see how his parents will react when he says these things. His father refuses to accept his words but his mother reacts in a more neutral way.

Dinner with Debbie and Vic ends in a recreation of a scene of Lady and the Tramp and David invites Michael out for a weekend in the country. Brian’s playing with his computer where we read that his new playmate is asking him “up for a ten-inch cock?” Now … why would Brian be up for a ten-inch cock? Is it going to be up his ass? No. Is it going to be down his throat? Possibly. Still, the implications of that is that Brian likes the size of a cock. Size is what matters. Doesn’t matter what he’s going to do with it. Is that right or are there other theories on this?

Brian gets a call from the guy asking for directions. The phone rings again and talks about opening the guy’s hole with his new dildo. But, it wasn’t the guy! It was Craig! Trouble a-brewin’ once more.

Michael leaves for the country with David.

Brian gives money to Lindsay (and looks hot in red). As you can see, Brian is well-loved and useful when he’s got a check for the ladies. But, otherwise, he’s scum because he won’t give up his parental rights. You can’t have it both ways. You just can’t.

I definitely found this scene with Chris really interesting. Justin and Chris seem to have an okay relationship. Yeah, Justin jerked him off but they’re still on speaking terms even in the locker room until Chris notices the ring and Justin eggs him on by implying Chris is gay (Justin was good at the innuendos). Then Chris goes ape shit crazy. There’s hardcore fighting, Justin cuts his lip, and look at the rage and fury on Chris’s face. We should know in that moment right there that that is not going to be their last altercation.

Michael and David escape to the country. David has a wife and kid and is handy with building a log cabin. I really have no insightful commentary to make on the two of them right now other than David really wants Michael to learn from previous straight experience so that Michael doesn’t make that same mistake with his life.

See, look at the pouting Brian who’s listening to Ted. Ted’s just punching Brian into the ground with his honesty and his insights. This is probably why they hate each other (kinda) in the beginning. There’s just a brutal, harsh honesty between them and I don’t even really pick up that Ted is jealous of Brian’s life at this point. That comes later with an easier relationship between the two. Right now? No. Brian has no one to play with at Studs and Suds, no one (Michael) there to watch him pick up a trick, so he leaves. His favorite event is now his former favorite event because of Michael’s absence.

Brian doesn’t remember scruffy!trick and it’s implied that he’s the guy who rams into Brian’s Jeep and almost kills him.

Brian gets a concussion, Michael’s ass is really white and we can see that since he’s just had sex with David in the outdoors, and Michael’s ready to rush home to be at Brian’s side. Then we have Justin talking to his dad. Well, it’s not really a conversation is it? It’s Justin trying to explain himself and his dad just wanting Justin to revert to the boy that he once thought he knew.

See, the thing is, I understand that parents have a lot of expectations for their children. But, they can’t expect them to fit those molds exactly. Craig had an exact, precise plan for Justin and Justin’s in the process of ruining that for Craig. His only son and he isn’t going down the path that he wants him to go on and on top of everything, Craig’s a big homophobe.

Randy’s expressions are once again … perfection. He has this composed, calm, yet almost mocking expression when Craig tells him about boarding school. Then he gets hit and he remains calm, confident, and self-assured. I love this Justin. Fanfic writers need to stop writing him like a giggling idiot. I’m just sayin’.

Craig hit Brian’s car! Brian magically (not so magically because he’s just cocky in front of his friends) is healed from the concussion and it’s time to party. I like how he only parties (dances) with Justin while Justin’s touching him and still tending to his wound. While everyone’s dancing, David and Michael walk in.

Brian did tell Michael not to come back but Michael "came running back" anyway. Well, it’s still difficult for Michael to fall out of the habits that completely revolve around Brian. David is pissed though. Melanie tries to explain and it seems like David accepts it until he’s at Babylon doing a bump with the boys. Then, David and Brian have the ultimate face-off. David is definitely telling him to stay away but Brian is not having that. That’s where we end.

And to make up for my absence, mini-picspam of that scene in 107.

Look at the pure ecstasy on his face. Oh yeah. He's getting it good.

Brian's tongue getting in on the action! He is loving what he's doing/feeling.

Look. Fingers intertwining! Finger love! Touching! Grasping! Love.

Is that a combination kiss/bite? I'm thinking YES.

I love Brian pressing his forehead against Justin's back. We get a visual AND I love it mentioned in fics. Win/win.

Throwing this one in because look at Brian's arm. Kind of looks like it's just holding on to Justin's hair? Right next to his face? In the vicinity of that area of Justin.

Though this scene is hotter than all hell, there are enough camera angles, and enough close ups (FINGERS) to show a bit of intimacy too. Amirite?

EDIT!! PS!! ALSO!!: NOTICE THE CLOTHES AT THE END OF THE BED. Look at the trail of clothes that start on the floor and lead to the bed. I ... I can't think of another episode where that happens. In 311 they take off each other's clothes and they're scattered then but these clothes here are hardcore scattered, clothes in a heap. Ugh, the details are awesome.

Back tomorrow with 109! ... I hope I will be. It's Glee night and all. :)
