Oh, hi, LiveJournal. It's been a minute, hasn't it? Everyone's just kind of all over the place and I utilize all kinds of social media that I haven't revisited my old haunts. But I wanted to today! I really want to try to get into the habit of writing. I need to start posting on my site more and start using that. If you want to follow me over there, that's where I'll be! I'll provide the link at the bottom. For now, let's talk about Mother's Day. Every year, I try to take my mom somewhere new, somewhere nice. And we've never been to The Melting Pot before so we decided to give that a shot. There used to be one closer to us in Pasadena and we've never been there so we went to the one over in Thousand Oaks. They were open for lunch for the day, which works for my mom since we both like just going out for lunch and hanging out in the afternoon. Besides, Game of Thrones was on in the afternoon.

Warning: Food Photos. You'll be hungry after viewing. )

Never been to Melting Pot before and I walked away pretty pleased. Yes, it's expensive. I think my brain temporarily short-circuited after looking at the bill because I couldn't figure out the tip to add. As we drove away from the restaurant, I realized that I had been short on the tip, and felt incredibly guilty. The little devil on my shoulder said, "It's okay. You'll never go back. Just leave." The bigger angel on my shoulder said, "Are you fucking crazy? Why would you do that to someone? CALL THEM WHEN YOU GET HOME." What did I end up doing? I called them when I got home to add to the tip. I'm not that terrible.

But I pay for the experience to dip things. I love fondue. There aren't restaurants that cater specifically to the idea of fondue and I love it. Everything tasted fresh. The chicken and steak were my favorite parts of the entree. The chocolate was fantastic. How could it not be? The girl at the front desk was adorable. Our server was really, really great. Everyone seemed discombobulated that it was lunch and not dinner since they're usually only open for dinner. We were greeted with a, "I hope you're having a great night." They were charming errors. No complaints here and my mother still talks about what a wonderful experience she had. So we're looking forward to going back! Hope other celebrants had wonderful days, as well.

I can't say with confidence that I'll post here regularly at all, but I am looking to reengage my site and considering an interview part of the site that'll feature different artists that I admire. I've purchased a lot over pop art over the years and there are some talented artists that definitely need to be featured somewhere. That's in the works! For now, visit to see what I'm up to and my recaps from events I've been to last year. Until next time, LJ!

Before I started compiling this list, I thought, "I didn't really do much this year." Then I put everything together and looking at the list... yes, I did do a lot. I didn't go to as many concerts but I went to a lot of cabaret shows and a good amount of theater. It was a great year! Let's do an events overview.

2014 Events! )

This is a fandom-based journal and people know what it's like when someone they've liked either in television or movies or music passes away, someone who's meant something to someone in their fandom. I think we've all been through it. Jonathan Brandis, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Brad Renfro were a few of mine. Paul Walker was someone I had great memories of as a teenager. I know a lot of you watch the Fast and the Furious series. My little cousin had a birthday party up in Valencia and we happened to literally be around the corner from the crash site. I had my camera and decided to go over there to see what was there and this was what I found.

Paul Walker Memorial Site. )

It was a tragedy but it was certainly one that could've been prevented. It was such a small area to go at top speeds. There were a few industrial buildings around but sharp curves and the 15 mph speed limit sign was posted there. There's a 25 mph sign posted around the corner. It was awful to see. They chopped down the tree and the pole's gone. The stump is the one with the coins on top. But people are writing messages all along the street, the trees, any signs in the small area. It was very touching to be there.

Here are some photos I took at the LA County Fair this past September. Imagine the warmth of summer for the people experiencing the cold. In return, someone send me pictures of snow. This heat makes me wanna punch someone right in the face.

Meet me at the fair. )

amelialourdes: (the office ; it is your bday)

Again, falling asleep as I type this so... photos! Details tomorrow.

Beautiful day in Los Angeles! Sky was so blue and you could see all the way to the downtown area.

I now have this Tuesday-Saturday schedule at work so while everyone is enjoying their Friday being a Friday, I have to wait until tomorrow to enjoy. I also have something to do next Saturday so I go back to Monday - Friday this week. Therefore, I get one day off this weekend and I will enjoy it at home, thank you. That said, I'm tired and I'd like to read some Buzzfeed before bed so today's entry will be a photo post.

Concerts, concerts galore. )

Returned from a lovely vacay with friends a month ago and have yet to discuss! But I wanted to post some quick pics of memorable sites I visited. [ profile] bigboobedcanuck was a lovely tour guide as we walked the streets of Toronto. We came across the following:

Okay, I got a lot misty. I mean, memories! I haven't been to Toronto in 13 years so things had changed. It's such a beautiful city. I hope I get a chance to go back!

amelialourdes: (atwt ; this is love)
So, how does one become the hottest couple on television? Well, enter! )

You can find all the screencaps for this episode here. I will not object to seeing a thousand icons of this episode displaying their love.

amelialourdes: (atwt ; this is love)

So, not only are our guys serious, they are also epically awesome in a variety of ways all of which were displayed in the episode that aired on August 26, 2010. It's one for the record book, folks. I've transitioned from my claim of "BOYFRIENDS" to "MARRIED" and let me show you why in the following picspam.

Screencaps by me from smuchshypush's fabulous HD quality videos. I'll link the caps on the last page of picspam. Thanks to my fabulous flist for being fabulous and for keeping Luke and Reid constantly in my head. Special thanks to [ profile] r_me_time for taking a look at some of these images and guiding me in my indecisiveness! ♥

These are all the parts that are pre-Luke/Reid. )

Continue on to part two --->

amelialourdes: (atwt ; affected)

And it'll look like this:

Your Qaf recappers are not dead yet! I say again that your recappers are alive and well. [ profile] amelialourdes and [ profile] sakesushimaki are not gone and giving up on this project. That said!

[ profile] sakesushimaki's last recap for Episode 112.
Go and comment, please! Thank you, wonderful ones.

I am using my very own screencaps and will be using them until the end of this. You can find screencaptures for Complete S1 and S2 at Kid tested, mother approved. (Kix commercial reference).

This week on Queer as Folk. )

That's it from me! Remember:

1. We're still alive and kicking.
2. [ profile] sakesushimaki's last recap is here.
3. I have a website and I'm working on S3 but I have complete S1 and S2 screencaps at
4. ... I don't have a 4. I just wanted it to be even.

Until next time!

I know you thought that I'd probably just stop doing these but you'd be wrong. What can I say? Sometimes life gets in the way of fandom activities. I hate it when that happens. Ha. But, I think that I'm ready to get back rolling in on this thing and since I disappeared for months then it's only air that [ profile] sakesushimaki gives you the next recap whenever she feels like it. Right, bb? Right.

Last time on Queer as Folk ...

I mean, that's all that happened in 110. Right? Okay. Just thought that I'd refresh your memory. Now on to Episode 11.

Recap 111 and pictures here! )

All caps provided by me at! Working on them. Next few episodes finished. They just have to be posted. Until next time!

Just had to post something a little bit happier in here and because I said I would post it. Didn't think I would do it, didja? Don't doubt me! Once again, the brill [ profile] sakesushimaki, will have a new, shiny recap for you soon. In the meantime, here's the other recap that I missed to get you all caught up. The screencaps are mine. I had to take them from a ripped copy so they're kind of crappy but at least they're there. I deal.

Recap 109 and pictures here! )

Until next time for me!

Thanks to anyone who's still keeping up with this! And anyone on my flist who is just tolerating it, ha. I had an excuse for missing these. I had unbearable back pain and only wanted to read comfort fic and didn't want to do much thinking or moving under the influence of pain pills. So, there's my excuse. It lasted a good almost couple of weeks. Now that it's over it's back to the recaps!

I'm thinkin' that kwaf is no more so it'll be my own screencaps from this point on. As always the wonderful and patient [ profile] sakesushimaki has her recaps in her journal! She's all on time and stuff. It's amazing.

This is episode 107 but I call it "Everyone Should Go To the Randy Harrison School of Facial Expressions" because I’m pretty sure that he uses all of them in this one episode.

Recap 107 and pictures here! A lot of commentary. A lot. I'm making up for missing weeks and weeks and weeks. )

And to make up for my absence, mini-picspam of that scene in 107.

We needed more scenes like this. Srsly. )

Back tomorrow with 109! ... I hope I will be. It's Glee night and all. :)
amelialourdes: (QAF NOSTALGIA ; FANDOM HUG)

I try not to be the worst procrastinator in the world but hey, sometimes I am. That said, here's this week's edition. Screencap grabs from kwaf and last week's episode recap by [ profile] sakesushimaki is right here!

Recap 105 and pictures here! )

amelialourdes: (QAF NOSTALGIA ; FANDOM HUG)

Welcome to episode three! I've raised some questions that I'd love some more insight into and of course these caps come with some pictures. All the caps are courtesy of KWAF. Thank you once again!

My recap partner [ profile] sakesushimaki has a recap of episode two right here.

[ profile] friday82 has the music of episode three right here.

Enter here for the recap! )

Thank you for reading this week! Apologies for the tardiness. It's been a busy, busy week. I also have more and more nostalgia coming up soon because that's how I roll, yo.

amelialourdes: (qaf ; s1 is love [118])

This originally started as such a simple project but again I just got too involved.

Let’s get this party started! We, [ profile] sakesushimaki, are hosting a Queer as Folk rewatch right here on our journals! You guys know that I’ve been getting really nostalgic lately for the good ol’ days (as they were to me) so I’ve been aching to rewatch the series. What better time to do it than the summer? Shows are on hiatus and I’ve got some time on my hands.

That said, let the recap begin!

There are a lot of pictures in here. A lot. I am warning you right now. So, click to take a look at them but remember ... I warned you. )

That's it for me! Stay tuned for [ profile] sakesushimaki's post later next week. Also, would you like some music from this episode? The wonderful [ profile] friday82 has provided the music that's played in many scenes right here. Hope you enjoyed!

Caps courtesy of KWAF (thank you, thank you, thank you!)

Edit: I'm hosting the pictures on Photobucket so if they disappear then you know why. I'll try to have them back up ASAP if they disappear.
