I couldn't resist answering this one. I'll be on LJ for six years this year. I consider that to be an accomplishment. My first entry went a little something like this:
Here I be. Attempting to fit in with the crowd by obtaining a livejournal. Am I in the secret society yet? I'm happy with it thus far. I also hold an account at diaryland: hysteria-fan. I love it but frankly I don't want to bother with templates. I'm good with the ready made stuff thanks. That just shows my laziness. In any case, I be here.
I spent the day making sure that I knew the ins and outs of the first season of Queer as Folk. I became somewhat addicted to the show just a mere couple of weeks ago. That first episode is a real kicker. I love it. I love the characters, the storylines, the experiences, the sex. I heard that the second season drags and gets progressively worse. But you know, as long as I have my main characters, and the sex, I'm good. Especially that Brian Kinney *rawr*. I love his relationship with Michael and Justin. He cares and he never shows it. I fucking want to be Brian Kinney. But I'm not and I'm going to have to deal with that, as do the people on the show. Not having the second season is killing me. I think my mom's getting it for me tomorrow at Amoeba. God love that place and their inexpensive DVDs. Just for future readers, I shall be constantly thinking, speaking, breathing, typing about Queer as Folk - just a heads up.
Now in the "real world" - I saw Pirates of the Caribbean twice the day that it opened. Once at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood and the second time, over here in Azusa. The viewing at the El Capitan was unbelievable. There was an organist before the show playing Disney tunes which really hyped me up for the movie. Then, when the opening title rolled across the screen, the whole audience went wild. Of course I was compelled to join in the excitement and anticipation, and did. I clapped, I screamed, I laughed, I was in awe of the whole event. I was mesmerized and feel a genuine connection to the film. Not just because it's great eye-candy [which it is] but because it's based on a ride at one of my favorite places to be on the planet. I get sucked into the movie which immediately connects me to the happiest place on earth. My happiest place on earth. I love the references in the film to the ride. Subtle, but they're there. Especially ... *SPOILER ALERT* the scene where they're in the prison, trying to get the keys from the dog. CLASSIC DISNEY. The whole audience went wild, telling me that everyone there was familiar with that part of the ride. It only brought me closer to the people viewing the movie. It may sound stupid to you but I love reaction and that is one of my favorites. The familiarity of the ride is a great reaction. It means that we've all experienced it and I think that that's great.
All right, besides my transcendental experience, I had a blast. I went downstairs to look at all the props from the movie, staring a little too hard at that Orlando Bloom costume, but what girl in the place wasn't? Following that my mom and I left for Disneyland. Take the 101 south to 5 to Santa Ana. Sure enough, we got there. I got my free parking slip and went into the park. I half expected there to be some hoopla about the movie but I found none. Instead, I made it a Pirates Day by riding the ride as many times as I could before my mom insisted that we try something else. My grand total was 5 times. We went on Star Tours, Haunted Mansion, saw Honey I Shrunk the Audience and headed home, listening to the Little Mermaid soundtrack all the way there.
Before going home though, we made a quick stop at Blockbuster which is where I discovered the Queer as Folk VHS tapes! It was quite a thrill. I went home to discover my cousin waiting for me, informing me that we were going to catch the 10:00 showing of the film. I made her watch one episode of QAF, the one where Emmett is jacking off in the beginning, and then we headed off. We got there, saw the 10 was completely sold out, bought tickets for the 10:30 and saw that the line was almost completely out the door. We fell in line and thankfully were able to find 2nd row seats. The movie ended at about 1 am. She dropped me off, went back to her place, and I watched more QAF episodes.
*sigh* That was my Pirates Day. Tiring wasn't it? No. It was nothing but fun!
Wow. That was just a fun filled day.
