nostalgia wave hitting me. boom.

I just realized that it's September and that means that it's been some five four years since Queer as Folk ended? Five years, yo. That's a long time. Since I've never been able to let it go then it feels like just yesterday to me. So, because of my inactivity at work, I'm going to have to jump on to that nostalgia bandwagon. Join me for a little while, will you?

- B/J spoilers in the Yahoo Groups (because they had awesome spoilers)
- Andrea's (sandstorm's) site with just the episode clips on them that we got to see ahead of time. Oh man. I was the worst spoiler virgin ever. As soon as I knew those clips were up then I ran to that site and was like, "I'll just look at one ... okay, two. Maybe all of them." I sucked.
- Everyone being secretive about spoiler tapes and yet for some reason like half of us had them. We never told anyone else though. We just knew that we had them and were keeping that to ourselves.
- And with that said ... gotfolk :)
- brianakinney and justintheartist? I was strangely addicted. I hated original characters but Michael Rappaport will always be Brog to me and Ashton Kutcher is Brian's cousin. Forgot his name though. :|
- The fact that Randall never finished The Quiet Men will forever kill me. Well, that and the Season Six he was writing. I shall miss. :(
- Is It May Yet?
- Did anyone go to the summer Babylon events? I went to Ancient Babylon up in Vancouver since you had to be 21 to get into the ones in the States and only 19 to go to the ones in Canada. I got a Qaf shirt there. I was also 19 that year.
- Randy in Wicked and becoming ridiculously obsessed with the musical. My favorite Elphaba is Eden.

Anyone got more?

Almost the six year "anniversary" of when I went to see Peter Paige in La Jolla and Jonathan B. at the premiere of his movie. Oh man. I went through some trauma that weekend. My first time (and last for Jonathan) ever seeing them both and Peter's play was scheduled on the same day as Jonathan's premiere. Thankfully, the playhouse allows you to exchange tickets so I just went on Saturday instead of Sunday. Or one of those weekend days. Crisis averted.

Seeing Gale and getting his autograph at his very first public dvd signing in San Francisco. And the next day, doing it all again on his second dvd signing in Milpitas. He and Peter excused themselves midway through that event, held at Best Buy, and went into the restroom to share a joint. Gale was in a better mood when he returned to the table.

Seeing the entire cast, CowLip, and others at the Museum of TV and Radio event in Los Angeles. Being nearly trampled afterwards as the crowd surged forward to get autographs.

Seeing Gale again at the LA Film Festival when his movie Particles of Truth premiered.

Seeing Randy in Amadeus. Sitting a few feet away as he sang karaoke with other cast members at Michael's one night.

Seeing a bootlegged tape of Randy in Wicked.

Best memory is having been able to meet other fans, many of whom were known by their online personas, and become really good friends with several of them. It's sad to know that I, and most other "oldies," have pretty much moved on - but I'm happy to still be friends with some of the old crowd.

Oh goodness, fantastic memories! I can only imagine the Paley crowd and their pouncing. I've been a witness to a few of those since then.

You're certainly right about that! I didn't come in until the tail end of S3 but I was definitely intimidated by the "oldies" of fandom and people on the boards and writers with their websites.

One of my favorite memories is standing in line for the Book Soup signing and I bonded with a few people in line because we were talking about fanfic. Someone had mentioned that you were her favorite writer! Even though a lot of people have moved on, I'm comforted to know that there are still some people around. Not to mention ... my love will never die and I'll always be around to reminisce. :)

Apparently I was so much of a lurker at the time that I don't remember any of this... Except Randy and "Wicked". I actually wanted to watch it when it came here, but then the thought of everything in German scared me off.:| In 2005, I was still very much focused on the earlier seasons. And trying to figure out how to make my mother watch the show with me.:)

Oh man, you should've gone to check it out! I've heard so many fantastic things about international casts and Germany's up there with a great cast. Music transcends language, that's for sure. Aw, memories! I don't even know how I managed to get my mom to watch some episodes with me but she remembers more than I thought she would! We turned the TV to Qaf last night and she was like, "Is this the episode where Brian kicks Justin out?" Haha.

Yes, I've only heard good things about it here as well. You're probably right, but all I could think of was that, most of the time, I hate listening to things in German.:/
I wish my mother would remember that much. Every time I refer to QaF (which I still do too often :)), she doesn't have a clue. With the exception of Emmett, she really loves Emmett.

Oh, my happiest memory will always be watching Randy and Gale film their ILY scene, in the freezing cold for like nine hours. Even though I'm not a fan of the show or involved in fandom anymore. And to be honest I think I was slightly fucked in the head at the time. Still.

I know! I still find myself wanting to click on DC++ but I know no one will be on there. :( I loved just sharing everything that we all had. It was just a total raid on everyone's media files, haha. But, it was still fun!
