what?! it's been 13 years, gang.
Mar. 11th, 2010 03:16 amAccording to ew.com, Buffy aired exactly 13 years ago yesterday (March 10)! Isn't that incredible? It's making me feel like a million years old. I know that I have Buffy fans on my flist so it's time to share your story. How did you discover Buffy the Vampire Slayer?
My story? I've always had a fascination with vampires. I watched a lot of vampire movies when I was a kid. I had the premium channels when I was younger so I watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer the movie when I was maybe 9. When I found out that there was going to be a television show? I WAS ALL OVER IT.
I was 12 years old and it was the end of 6th grade. I turned on the WB, was hanging out on my bottom bunk, and there it was in all Buffy glory. It only took one episode and I was hooked. I watched that show from the beginning when I was in 6th grade until the night before my high school graduation when I was 18. It's one of those shows that absolutely changed my life and thanks to the man JW for bringing it to life.
I'm listing this as one of my "Favorite Television Show Series" posts. It's a new series I'm doing to keep track of the ridiculous number of television shows that fascinate me. But, who knows when I'll be able to post the first real post of that. I have a million projects going for this wonderful little online world of ours.

Date: 2010-03-11 01:58 pm (UTC)Hee. My Buffy story...um. I know I loved the movie (as ridiculous as it was), so when the show first aired I was annoyed that it wasn't the same thing. For whatever reason, I decided that I wasn't going to watch a television show with a girl named Buffy and I just let my love die.
I'm pretty sure I started watching around S4. Not positive why but I'll bet it had something to do with Spike.

Date: 2010-03-14 03:57 pm (UTC)Okay, Buffy. I saw the movie and hated it (except for Pee-Wee Herman's big death scene. Hee.) Couldn't believe they were going to spin-off a whole show after that dreadful mess. Refused to watch. My sister watched, though, and knew I loved vampire stuff, and kept bugging me to watch it, telling me I'd love it. Finally in S2 I gave in, and the episode happened to be one with Spike, who I instantly adored. I kept watching for Spike, initially, but then became completely caught up in Buffy and Angel and the whole mythology. Kept watching faithfully until the end.

Date: 2010-03-14 09:06 pm (UTC)I wish I could remember the show by season but it definitely got interesting as it went along between Angel/Buffy and then Spike/Buffy. It was such a unique show. I miss it dearly.
