Dec. 29th, 2013 10:36 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
1. What is one thing you did in 2013 that you'd never done before?
Went to North Carolina, Stratford, Ontario, Canada, and Nigara Falls for the first time. I went zip lining, watched Veronica Mars for the first time, was front row at several concerts. I've done a lot of things this year for the first time and they've all been great.
2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't make resolutions. I guess I always make plans but nothing solidly concrete like that.
3. Did someone close to you give birth?
No one close.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No one close. My Uncle's wife but I didn't know her well.
5. What countries did you visit?
Canada!
6. What would you like to have in 2014 that you lacked in 2014?
I've had a really, really great year and I don't think I'm lacking. Anything I get in the next year is considered a bonus.
7. What dates from 2013 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I had a really great 28th birthday on the 28th of February, March 14th was the 98 Degrees video shoot, July weekend was the New Kids on the Block weekend, I started my new job in October. I went on epic vacay in October. I remember a lot.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting a new job. Finding employment is a great achievement because I was unemployed on January 1, 2013 and January 1, 2014, I have a job.
9. What was your biggest failure?
I need to try harder to work on my health. I had plenty of time and I didn't. Not really. I need to try to turn things around this next year.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I don't think I got sick at all this year. Pretty good. No injuries either. KNOCKS ON WOOD.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
I don't think I bought anything out of the ordinary. A lot of blu-rays, another bookshelf for my den, um. Yep. I bought my mom a laptop for her birthday so that's the best thing I bought for her, I suppose.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I think... I'll say mine. I feel like I'm a lot more open this year. I feel like I'm a lot more forgiving and patient. Not always. But I think I've really tried and made a conscious decision to be more loving.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled?
Nothing truly appalling. No one's really let me down in big ways.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Bills, bills, bills.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Vacay! Concerts! Theater! New job! ALL THE THINGS.
16. What song will always remind you of 2013?
Good lord. I'm kind of terrible and usually just listen to the same things over and over again. But I guess Lorde and Robin Thicke getting famous and... other... people. NKOTB's "Remix" is specific. I'd remember that.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or hardened? Happier.
ii. thinner or fatter? Same.
iii. richer or poorer? Richer.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
I wish I'd done more traveling through California. I know I didn't have much money but I had all the time in the world to finally go to Hearst Castle or spend a significant amount of time in San Diego but that never happened. Oops.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Can't really think of anything.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
Just stayed home on Christmas Day. Spent Christmas Eve at my Uncle and Aunt's house but on Christmas Day, we had a great Christmas lunch and watched all Christmas-themed movies.
21. Did you fall in love in 2013?
No.
22. Any one-night stands?
No.
23. What was your favorite TV program?
I just started Scandal and Once Upon A Time this year. I think Doctor Who's the winner. I watched a lot of Doctor Who and managed to catch up to the current season. Ten will always be my favorite.
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nope.
25. What was the best book you read?
I'm thinking about my Kindle purchases and all those books I haven't finished yet...
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Erm. Did I have any this year? Honestly, all I listen to lately is Darren Hayes, *N Sync, and Jay Brannan. On repeat. All day every day.
27. What did you want and get?
A good birthday, front row at concerts, good celebrity meetings.
28. What did you want and not get?
I had a good year. I got a lot this year.
29. What was your favorite film of this year?
Bully and Blackfish were the best docs I saw this year. Second Hunger Games was great. Saving Mr. Banks was probably my favorite because I'm a biased Disney fan like that.
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 28 on February 28th so it was my Golden Birthday. I woke up when I wanted, I went to the Old Spaghetti Factory for lunch and had my favorite shake as my cake, went to Disneyland to listen to the Dapper Dans sing me boy band music, and then saw Wicked! My mom bought me the most fabulous Disney bag for my birthday. So it was a fantastic day.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Seeing my friends more often. We live so far away from each other.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2013?
I think I went full hipster this year without even meaning to.
33. What kept you sane?
Music, the theater, television. The usual.
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Ramin Karimloo, Aaron Tveit, Paul Nolan, Josh Young, the usual theater males.
35. Who do you miss?
My friends! Always my friends.
36. Who was the best new person you met?
I believe
mcfeste and
rhiannonhero are on the tippy top of that list. Tippy top.
37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2013:
I've learned to accept and love and be open-minded and patient and kind because those emotions are better than the alternative. It's made me feel better about myself and even though I have strong moments of feeling the exact opposite about myself, those moments are fewer than they have been.

Not nearly enough theater! I had a bit of a drought in there somewhere. To be fair, they were during the unemployed months so I felt like I couldn't go out. But I guess I did go to a bunch of concerts during that time, too. The concert number seems a little low to me. I'm usually in the 30s. But went to some GREAT concerts this year.
