Things I Did Today:

• Woke up early and by early I mean around 9ish. I've been waking up at 9 lately which is good because I didn't really like waking up at noon. Even though I say that I'm sure that I'm going to go back to my sleeping schedule as soon as it's 2010.
• Went to the mall.
• Was shocked to see that they already had people there to direct cars into the parking garage. It was early in the morning! There was no need for that since the parking lot was pretty empty.
• Parked in my usual place and went straight for the Hallmark store.
• Bought cards for my parents, grandmother, friends.
• Went back home to fill out cards and pack the presents.
• Ventured out to the post office.
• Encountered rude people! (They weren't rude to me).
• Mailed my packages and cards after 30-40 minutes of waiting in line.
• Went to the back to take out money.
• Went to my Mom's bank to deposit that money into her account.
• Went to the grocery store.
• As I was leaving the store ... I forgot the one important ingredient for my holiday treat.
• Back to the grocery store.
• Finally back home.
• Ate lunch.
• Worked on my Mom's birthday present. (Her birthday's on the 27th).
• Received awesome Christmas presents from [livejournal.com profile] r_me_time.
• Cleaned the kitchen.
• Sat down.
• SURFED THE NET AND WAS EXCITED TO SEE [livejournal.com profile] url_girl'S RETURN TO LJ. EEE!

This was the first time in a long time that I did something all day. It felt like working a 9-5 with all that running around. The point is is that everything is finished. Well, mostly. Haven't wrapped presents for my cousins' kids that I'm seeing on Christmas Eve and in the haste and paranoia of wanting to get presents mailed out on time, I forgot to buy package material for the cousins' kids gifts. My mom's going out tomorrow for her shopping so maybe she'll find me a box somewhere that I could use.

See? This is why I never finish these projects. The more I stare at something, the more I see the imperfections, the more I want to correct everything and change everything. Now my PowerDVD program doesn't work the way that I want it to and I still refuse to use VLC player because all the caps come out so dark. Ugh, I don't know what to do. Help.

Fantastic choices on the Q&A everyone! Seems like everyone's in the holiday spirit. Here are my list of movies that I have to watch during the holidays:

The Nightmare Before Christmas, A Muppets Christmas Carol, Home Alone, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (yes, I did have a TalkBoy), Meet Me in St. Louis, The Santa Clause, Elf, Babes in Toyland (with Annette), The Year Without Santa Claus (and mostly every stop motion Christmas/New Year themed film).

I think that that's about it. These are the movies that I grew up watching during the holidays and they always take me back to that time when I first remember watching them. I saw The Nightmare Before Christmas, A Muppets Christmas Carol, Home Alone 2, and The Santa Clause in the theater when they first came out and those memories are stuck with me in a good way.

I mostly found out about these movies or watched them on my own. My mom would watch them because I watched them and she ended up liking them. I remember this one Christmas where me and my dad were alone for the first time together in years and we watched all three Godfathers. I was older so I understood them all better and they ended up being my favorite movies. So, I've learned in my informal poll that everyone has different tastes but still movie hounds around the holidays. :)

Sometimes I feel like an ass for doing these but 'tis the season:

Holiday Love Meme, Secret Santa Style!

Happy Easter for all who celebrate! I've decided to regress and dye easter eggs this year. Um, I couldn't find any of those PAAS dye kits like they used to have when I was kid. Were they just all sold out when I was looking for them? If I can't find them next year I'll just ebay it or buy it online from somewhere. Anyway, here are pictures of the process and the finished product!

Hope everyone had a good one!

amelialourdes: (icon ; Valentine's Day)

First of all, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] jittrbugg! I hope that you had a good one.

Secondly, I don't think that I thanked everyone properly for participating in the Valentine's Day Secret Admirer Extravaganza project! Thank you so much to everyone who participated, everyone who sent in messages for their friends, everyone who even got a mention and even those who didn't I'm sending so much love to all of you.

I really enjoyed working on it and putting it together. I just love the tradition and trying to keep it an annual event since it started ... what was it, a couple of years ago in [livejournal.com profile] severina2001's journal? I know that [livejournal.com profile] sdvmadelyn does the giant one but we still have ours trucking along the highway alongside so, thank you again! Definitely hope to see it next year too. ♥♥♥♥♥ to all of you!

In case you missed it or want to go back and reference (or something) you can find the first post here and the second post here.

Thank you again!

And now as a little side note I am getting SO nostalgic for Qaf again. I mean before with my nostalgia posts (you can find the fic part one here) I was/am just very nostalgic for fandom but now I'm getting show nostalgic!

I was reading [livejournal.com profile] arlad's wonderful AU fic The Space Between that I've never read before since I was too busy graduating from college when she wrote it but I just got ridiculously happy thinking about Brian and Justin again. Then I watched the following clips:

1) Hotel sex.
2) Forever young.
3) I want you safe.
5) Domesiticity from S4
6) Not married!
7) BJ from 309
8) Ready to go ...
9) Fucking chicken soup
10) Flirty Justin circa 406!

And I just ... man. It just hit me how much I still love these moments. Watching season four and that scene that they had sitting on the floor with the Chinese boxes I mean what would we have given to have seen that scene a couple seasons prior to that moment? I know that we were all SHOCKED when we saw those clips (on Andrea's site, hee). I remember how much I loved feeling that surprised and happy for those two.

Sigh, memories. I think I need a marathon. I rewind Nuke clips constantly for their little touching moments together and it's been a while since I've done that for Brian and Justin. I know I'll be having a bit of a rewind-a-thon soon!

Oh, Nuke yesterday? *ded*

Wow. I am completely blown away by how many people spread the love for their flist. This is a tradition that I do hope will continue on in the future and I was more than happy to do it this year for everyone. Since I opted to cancel the recommended 10 people on your flist the love definitely poured in for more than 350 PEOPLE this year. Wow. Incredible! So, thanks for letting me do this and have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

The Valentine's Day icon provided by the very talented [livejournal.com profile] kinnetik_vision. If you feel like using some Valentine's Day icons today hers can be found here. The graphic above was made by me! And since there are so many people I've split the post into two parts. The other one coming up!

Edit: Official count 402 people! Way to go!

List, part one. )

amelialourdes: (bj ; FACEPALM)

Well, all entries are in and accounted for! No more e-mails as of right now.

Everything's almost up and ready to go. As I cannot keep my eyes open any longer I'm going to have to leave the rest of the formatting until tomorrow. That's all. Just a little cut and paste here and there. So, stay tuned to my journal tomorrow for Valentine's Day Extravaganza 2009! The response was really overwhelming and glad to see tons of names on the list. :)

I'll pretty much be posting this every day so that people:

1. Don't forget.
2. Can see it.
3. SPREAD THE WORD.
amelialourdes: (bj ; 304 thank you)

All right gang, Valentine's Day is quickly approaching (ONE WEEK AWAY) and I think that it's time to spread the love in this fandom. I know of one of these that are going around but not the way that [livejournal.com profile] severina2001 has been doing it. She originally borrowed this idea from [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn in another fandom and spread the love into this fandom. So, need the rules again?

It's time to spread the love again!

As you know, Valentine's Day is fast approaching. And what better way to make everyone feel special than to send happy joyful Valentines Wishes?

Here's how it works:

1. Pick up to 10 people from your flist Go nuts this year! Pick more than 10 people, pick 20, pick 30 --- pick your friends! Write a sentence or two about how you feel about them. Could be as simple as "you always make me smile" or "I love your icons."

2. EMAIL your comments to me at amelia.lourdes@gmail.com You have until midnight February 13th to send 'em in!

3. On February 14th, I will post a list of all the people who got comments, and post all the comments they received... without revealing WHO sent them. So lots of people will wake up on Valentines Day to all kinds of anonymous love!

Last year 100's of comments were sent in. It only takes a few minutes of your time, and think about how awesome you'll feel. Think about how awesome your recipients will feel. Think about the LOVE. Come on, fandom.

Questions? Ask 'em in the comments.

-------

All words and phrases taken straight from [livejournal.com profile] severina2001's post last year. Valentine's Day is time to spread the love in fandom gang so let's have as many comments and as many of your LJ friends as you can get!

Spread this around. SPREAD THE WORD! The more people, the more love. Let's bring fandom together with the love. That is what our OTPs are about right? Right!

And so much thanks to [livejournal.com profile] severina2001 for hosting this in previous years. You deserve so, so much love! I totally heart you!

amelialourdes: (drew ; omgyayz!)

Just wanted to wish you all a ...
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Hope that you guys got everything that you wanted in '08 and if you didn't, that's what another year is for. Kathy and Anderson were pretty fabulous on CNN. Now I will continue my New Year tradition of attempting to stay up until dawn watching movies and generally doing whatever.

amelialourdes: (holiday ; cmas @ britin)

I want to wish everyone the best Christmas, Hanukkah, any holiday that they celebrate this week or no holiday at all! I'm fully immersed in the Christmas spirit even if it's that time of the month. :| Y'know, it's difficult for a lot of people this Christmas with the state of the US economy but I hope that everyone is managing okay and having the best time that they can.

Also thank you so, so much to [livejournal.com profile] sanami276, [livejournal.com profile] colorthenight, [livejournal.com profile] friday82 and that anonymous gift I received when I was feeling a little down. Having messages like that waiting for me really makes my entire Christmas that much more special. I'm pretty much content with just hanging around the apartment and watching movies with my mom which is what we're doing right now.

So, how was everyone else's Christmas? What made this holiday special for you?

When I have more computer time this weekend I'll be back with gifts! Thank you to all of you for making my Christmas, making my year a very special one. You all mean a lot to me.

amelialourdes: (vote for change ; da gays)

Oh, Florida. I'm so proud of you guys. First you turn blue and now you're allowing the gays to adopt their babies. If those goddamn "family" groups are going to go after this it's time for another heavy letter writing campaign. Aren't they tired of their only stable children grow up in homes with a mother and father bullshit? You'd think that they would be. But, no. In conclusion, go Florida!

So, Thanksgiving is coming up and that means that Christmas is coming up and that means that I have my Christmas gift list ready to go for everyone. My favorite part of Christmas is really the wrapping. I already (mostly) know what I'm going to get everyone. I still need to ask my cousin's kids what they want for Christmas. Hopefully it's something simple like a game or something.

What's everyone's Thanksgiving plans? I'm curious. I guess I'll fill you guys in on my day when it rolls around to Thursday's blogging day.

Tomorrow I have a half day at work and I'm so excited about that. I do have to go grocery shopping. I have some things that I have to buy for Thursday's meal. Can you believe that I'm making these kind of preparations for a meal for two people? Yeah, that's right. It's going to be me and mom as usual. But, I'm happy about that and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on NBC.

Must be the season to read rizabeau's holiday story! Yes, the 'baby' gets annoying, it's a little OOC but hey you know what? It's got Justin's twins in it! And they are absolute love.
