They have different personality, very good actors (for me), reserved characters and kind with the fanses (when they aren't weird :-P), a good sense of the humor and....the beauty. Perhaps Gale transmits more sensualities.

I am out of date with QAF fandom, but it seems like Gale's fans are more likely to think of him in terms of sex (or wanting sex with him) and Randy's fans tend to be more hands-off. However, this is a generalization and there are numerous exceptions. I am not sure whether it is based on looks, Randy's and Gale's personalities, Randy being gay and Gale being straight, or what.

I am Gale fan through and through. I have always seen Randy as a boy while Gale is a man. That may be a function of my age since I am old enough to Randy's mother so I don't see him as an attractive male - as cute as he can be, he is just too young.

Gale is sexy, mesmerizing and utterly fascinating. He has a je ne sais quoi that makes me wish I was 20 years younger. Gale seems to appeal to older women and I don't want to mother him. Heee!

I would agree with this. Randy is a cute boy, but I don't
find him sexy. I like the character of Justin much more
and was always disappointed when Randy trashed the character,
as I know that portrayal really meant something to a lot
of young gay men who identified with his struggles.

I've never seen Randy on stage, so I can't comment, but
from everything that's said about him, he's an excellent
actor.

Gale, on the other hand, is a true personality in the way
of the old movie stars. Perhaps he's not as techically
a good actor as say, Scott -- who I think is the most
underrated actor on the show -- but Scott lacks that
charisma that Gale has in spades. And that comes across
in person, as well as on screen. Some people find Gale
scary -- I've never felt that myself, but I can see why
people would see that. He's an intense guy. But he's
also painfully shy and introspective. And he's private
for many good reasons, none of which I'll detail here
or anywhere else.

If Gale hadn't been on QAF, I would have watched it, but
that's probably all. I would never have been "in the
fandom."

In the long run, it's all about taste. Different people
like different types -- and that's what makes for a
diverse and interesting fandom.

I'm not sure how to reply because of the "fangirl" word.. if you mean it like a sort of crazy fan or any normal fan like me. If it's like a crazy fan then I guess both are pretty much alike.. especially those who still think of them as B&J.

Brian and Justin are very different characters. Of course most fangirls realize that Gale is not Brian and Randy is not Justin. But since we "know" them as Brian and Justin, I think we naturally project Brian & Justin's personalities onto Gale & Randy. At least a little bit.

Brian is a big strong man (physically) and has a lot of traditionally masculine qualities. So when fangirls see Gale, they see him as ....a guy. A very hot guy. A very hot guy who most of us believe is either straight, or possibly bi. Who is also physically quite tall and imposing. That in itself can be intimidating for many girls. Then throw in that patented death-glare he can get when he does -not- want to be approached, and yeah, he can seem like a scary dude! But he can also seem like a very sweet approachable guy when he's relaxed. I've seen him IRL a couple of times. The first time he had the patented death-glare and I found him intimidating. The second time he was relaxed and looked like the sort of guy I'd be comfortable walking up to and asking for directions to his house for some sexysex.

Justin is much smaller (physically) and has more traditionally feminine qualities. He's the one who's quick to cry, who craves romance, who likes to cook and paint and stuff like that. He's not physically intimidating. Like, not at all. Even if Randy gave you a death glare you'd probably still think he was cute as a button and not at all scary. And we all know he's gay as can be. So I think fangirls find him more approachable, but less OMGSEXY. He's more like a girlfriend that we can identify with than an OMGHOTHUY. Yes he's physically attractive, just not in the same way.

So I don't know if there's much difference between Gale fangirls and Randy fangirls. We're clearly attracted to very different types, and that in itself says something about who we are and what sort of person we crave. But when you get past that, I think we love our guys about the same amount. I think how we react to them has a lot to do with how we perceive them. Gale and Randy happen to inspire very different perceptions.
